When the .NET universal top-level domain was first set up in 1985, together with the first domains on the World Wide Web, it was intended to be used by Internet Service Providers or infrastructure establishments. Given the fact that there were no special regulations about the usage of the top-level domain extension, though, dot NET domains were reserved and used for different purposes and by quite a few people. This TLD is a perfect alternative to .COM, particularly if the desired domain with the latter domain extension is not available for registration.

You can easily change the WHOIS contact details of the domain through your Control Panel, or, if you don’t want this information to be visible at all, you can buy a Whois Privacy Protection service, so no one will be able to view your actual contact details.

The dot NET top-level domain name extension supports internationalized names, so you can select if you want to target a certain country or territory using a domain name in the local language, or the global web community – using a generic English name.
